Description: In aspiration of UKM in community education and collaboration, the focus of World Voice Day will be on educating the public about the uniquness of voice and caring for voice. Two activities will be carried out for this celebration, i.e. laryngeal karaoke and public webinar. The laryngeal karaoke will be held on 30 March 2022, involving 4 local singers. They will be singing their one of their hit songs while being scope by the laryngologist. The laryngeal karaoke will enable public to understand the dynamic of vocal fold movements and the surrounding structure in producing the song genre. The public webinar, scheduled on 15 April 2022, will involve two panelists, Prof Marina Mat Baki (Laryngologist of UKM Medical Centre) and Datuk Syafinaz Selamat (a prominent singer of Malaysia). This session will involve discussion about healthy voice, differences between singing and speaking voice and voice care. Additionally, public will also be educated about identifying voice disorders and helps that they could seek for in addressing their voice needs.
